Sustainable energy from plants

Electricity form plants

Making energy of natural resources, are renewable and sustainable. Because the way electricity is generated from plants is sustainable. This will be extensively explained on the page of Wageningen University. The occurring micro-organisms by plant roots break down the remaining organic matter from the plants and as a waste product, electrons are released. The micro-organisms donate their electrons to an electrode and so the electrons can be harvested as electricity.
Research has shown that plant-growth isn’t compromised by harvesting electricity, so plants keep on growing while electricity is concurrently produced. So making energy out of plants is environmental friendly.

Plant-e uses natural energy flows. All that is needed to generate electricity with plants is light, carbon dioxide and water. So electricity from plants doesn't cost energy. The plants can grow on the roofs of houses and offices for example. There it  will generate electricity day and night, summer and winter. A plant roof can generate enough electricity to power half of a household. It’s green, clean and affordable.

Fuels
The main environmental advantage of biofuel is that the raw material is biodegradable, non-toxic andcontains no sulfur and aromatics.
After incineration, there is less sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide than with conventional fuels. But there will be more nitrogen oxides, which contribute to the formation of acid rain.
But with a catalyst systemin a car exhaust, you can remove oxides of nitrogen properly.
So biofuels are environmental friendly and sustainable.
The use of biomass fuels can therefore contribute to waste management as well as fuel security and help to prevent or slow down climate change, although alone they are not a comprehensive solution to these problems.
